Privacy Policy
SnippedAI is a macOS application that lets users capture screenshots and ask AI models questions about visual content. We designed SnippedAI to minimize data handling and give users direct control over when screenshot data is sent to third-party AI providers.
Information We Collect
SnippedAI does not require account creation and does not operate a SnippedAI-hosted backend for storing user screenshots or conversations.
SnippedAI itself does not intentionally collect or retain:
- user account profiles
- saved screenshot libraries on SnippedAI servers
- conversation history on SnippedAI servers
- API keys on SnippedAI servers
Screenshots and Prompts
When you capture a screenshot in SnippedAI, the screenshot remains on your device unless you choose to submit it for analysis.
If you ask SnippedAI to analyze a screenshot, the screenshot and your prompt may be transmitted to the AI provider you selected, such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Groq, or another provider supported by the app.
Those providers process the request according to their own terms, privacy policies, and data retention practices. You are responsible for reviewing the policies of the provider you choose.
API Keys
API keys entered into SnippedAI are intended to be stored locally on your device for use in making requests to the provider you selected. SnippedAI does not sell, broker, or intentionally transmit your API keys to any SnippedAI-operated server.
How Data Is Used
Data you provide is used only for the functionality you request, such as sending a screenshot and prompt to an AI provider for analysis and returning the result to you inside the app.
Data Retention
SnippedAI does not intentionally maintain a remote archive of screenshots, prompts, or responses on SnippedAI-operated servers. Any local files, cached content, or settings stored by the app remain under your control on your device unless separately transmitted by you.
Third-Party Services
SnippedAI may connect to third-party services selected by the user. These services may include AI model providers and related infrastructure necessary to complete a request. Once data is sent to a third-party provider, its handling is governed by that provider’s terms and privacy practices.
Children’s Privacy
SnippedAI is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children through SnippedAI-operated services.
Security
We aim to use reasonable safeguards in the design of the app, but no software, device, or network transmission method can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Users should avoid submitting screenshots containing highly sensitive personal, financial, legal, or medical information unless they are comfortable sending that content to their selected provider.
Your Choices
You control whether to capture a screenshot, whether to submit it for analysis, and which provider to use. You may also remove the app and delete locally stored settings from your device at any time.
Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time to reflect product, legal, or operational changes. The updated version will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.
